At the Front Tours offers comprehensive tours of one of the most iconic battlefields in the world. We lead groups of any size and have led hundreds of groups from all over the world to learn firsthand about the events leading up to, during and after the Battle of Antietam.

In addition, our tour guides have partnered with several school districts in the area outside the park zone during the off-season to provide one- and two-day lectures and discussions to elementary and high school students. But of late we have received requests to travel to school sites within a 500-mile radius. If you are a schoolteacher or school principal, be sure to send us a note on the “Contact Us” section of the website.

Upon arrival to the battlefield, we embark on a complete tour of the major sites of the battle, including Dunker Church, Miller’s Cornfield, The West Woods, Burnside’s Bridge, Antietam Creek, and, of course, Bloody Lane.

The comprehensive tour sometimes can be up to three hours, but after your departure you will have gained the most compelling history lesson in your time that will allow you to confidently convey the Battle of Antietam to your children, grandchildren, friends and extended family.

On these Maryland fields, the Confederate Army, led by General Robert E. Lee, made his first incursion towards a northern battlefield. The battle’s outcome wasn’t decisive, as each side suffered heavy losses, but it sent a message to the day’s European powers to stay neutral in the conflict.

This is just one bit of information you’ll take with you on your journey back home.
